a day at smorgasburg, brooklyn
this year was my beautiful friend gianna's first mothers day! it was a sunny new york morning so we decided to pack a picnic blanket and go spend the day at smorgasburg in brooklyn. for those of you who don't know, smorgasburg is a big open air food market that is held every weekend in brooklyn during may through to october. on saturdays it is on the waterfront in williamsburg and on sundays it is in the lush, green, squirrel filled prospect park.
we got there at around 11am with our cash ready (the stalls only take cash). it was slowly filling up with people as we walked a lap and started to work on our food plan of attack. we first picked up our drinks: rosé, brooklyn pilsner (which tastes exactly like a stone and wood pacific ale), grapefruit-erita and rum punch. all delicious.
food-wise we got the famous home frite fries with truffle parmesan and a chipotle ranch sauce (maybe my favourite thing) we also had a bratwurst raclette baguette, pork belly bao, ramen burgers and a rose and cardamom ice cream.
i look forward to spending more summer weekends here and trying all the other food stalls. the lobster rolls, ice cream sandwiches, bbq ribs and philly cheese steak are definitely next on the list.
