bali: alila ubud
after our stay in seminyak i was ready for our next stop in the quiet and peaceful ubud. we stayed at the beautiful alila hotel. i was drawn to staying here because it is in the middle of the jungle about 15 minutes out of the main town centre.
as soon as we arrived i felt instantly relaxed. we were greeted by lovely staff and refreshing drinks and made our way down to our cosy little room overlooking the forest and monkeys. anders is terrified of monkeys and was not impressed with me breaking the hotel rules "do not feed the monkeys" and luring them onto our balcony with the daily complimentary fruit bowls most days.
every morning there was a different and exciting new breakfast menu, all made with the fresh produce grown on the resort property. the black rice pudding with coconut milk and fresh mango was a major highlight, as well as the pink dragon fruit smoothie with raw honey and probiotic yoghurt.
and then the POOL. it was honestly breathtaking. we pretty much spent most of our days here swimming, reading and sleeping. then at night we'd put on our robes and have vegetable curry and coconut rice out on the balcony of our room.
