what is diatomaceous earth

diatomaceous earth (DE) is a natural powder made up of fossilised remains of tiny, aquatic organisms called diatoms. it is predominately made up of silica which is amazing for your health, hair, skin, nails and helps produce collagen. more and more studies show we are very deficient in silica and our bodies are in constant need of it. this is because silica plays a huge role in many body functions and has an immediate relationship with mineral absorption. the tiny particles in diatomaceous earth help to clean out the build up of mucous, toxins, waste and metals in your digestive tract. it is anti-bacterial, anti-viral and antiparasitic. 

what are some health benefits of diatomaceous earth

after regularly using DE in my health routine i can not speak highly enough about it. i have definitely experienced so many of the benefits below and i just generally feel so much more energy when i take it. anders also notices a big improvement in his sore joints (from old sport injuries) when he takes this regularly.

how i take it

it is very important to only ingest food grade diatomaceous earth (which can be purchased here and here). i take 1 tbsp once or twice a day in water, in a smoothie or in porridge. it has no taste at all. just a little chalky texture. i also love adding a little tsp of it into my cleanser every few days.
