lately in nyc: brooklyn bridge, central park and cobble hill
lately in nyc… it has been beautiful weather! nothing compares to new york spring. after a long, cold winter. everything blooms, the sun shines every day and people are out and about. it instantly puts me in a good mood.
the last couple of weekends have been so much fun! we attended the annual cafe altro paradiso bake sale in support of planned parenthood. it was so cool to see thousands of people supporting such an important organization. they raised almost $100K. we got there little too late and i missed out on alison roman’s chocolate tahini tart which i was so excited to try... maybe next year!
we spent a sunny saturday exploring brooklyn neighbourhoods cobble hill and boerum hill which are right next to us in fort greene. the tree lined streets and beautiful brownstones get me every time. we made our way to stumptown brooklyn which is an awesome little coffee spot.
the annual BAM DanceAfrica Festival was also on, which i absolutely adore. it’s the epitome of brooklyn culture and community. there are food vendors, DJ’s, dance performances, market stalls, kids playing hopscotch and just overall amazing vibes.
coming in to may also means we got to go up to our rooftop and have our first grill of the season. we made some spicy chicken thigh and veggie kebabs with pita with a roasted cauliflower and garlic hummus (recipe coming soon). SO GOOD!
we finally walked the brooklyn bridge. it only took us two years to do it. we started at the brooklyn bridge city hall subway stop and walked across into dumbo and got some sweetgreen salad afterwards. guacamole greens forever.
we also spent a day exploring central park with my brother! the boys got hot dogs and mister softee ice cream. nyc summer must haves.
*** a little side note. my camera memory card died so down the bottom are some really low res photos that i semi saved and still wanted to share regardless of how pixelated they are***
