west village: brunch at bluestone lane
brunch is a thing in new york. everywhere has brunch. people meet up and gather at their favourite cafes or restaurants around midday to spend a lazy couple of hours catching up. it's quickly becoming my favourite part of the day. after your first coffee, switch to bottomless mimosas or a glass of rosé with your poached eggs on toast... dream.
the other day we went across town to have brunch at the fast growing australian style cafe, bluestone lane in the west village. this is "the" bluestone lane to visit if you want to see gigi hadid or taylor swift. i sat in the exact spot gigi sat in, it felt good. it's such a beautiful fit out and the staff took the best care of us. we started with rosé and then ordered a couple of items from the new spring menu. we had pea and mint smash with smoked salmon, moroccan chicken sandwich with avocado and a yoghurt dressing and the classic vegemite and avocado smash. whilst eating, we could see a film and tv crew out the front filming something for a movie. nyc life.
after our morning at bluestone lane, we made our way through the west village daydreaming about living there, taking photos on the street, sitting on stoops and boomeranging everything. i knew magnolia bakery was around here somewhere and being in the tourist mode that i'm in, needed to get the famous banana pudding. it met all my expectations. the last stop for the day was chelsea market where we shared some currywurst and fries from the german bar and window shopped.
