what a farmers market in brooklyn, new york is like
/ fort greene farmer's market
while jai and g were in italy a couple of weeks ago, i spent a morning at our neighbourhood farmer’s market! i woke up to a warm sunny day, got my eataly tote and my camera and went for a short walk down the street to the fort greene farmer's market in brooklyn! whenever i travel, i love to experience the local market. fort greene is a really cute and simple little setup.
it's about one block long and lined with a lot of beautiful produce! which kind of surprised me, i thought being in a city it wouldn't be as fresh and vibrant as the markets back home, but nooo.. so much organic green goodness, flowers, cheese, some of the most rich and luscious heirloom tomatoes i’ve ever eaten and bread from she wolf bakery (which had a VERY long line the whole time i was there) there is also a community compost area where everyone brings their fruit and veggie scraps from the week. so awesome!! i even discovered some new things like chive flowers, purple basil and black spanish radish! whole foods is kind of dead to me now.
i am completely in love with brooklyn. as i walk around i feel such a sense of community. there are young creatives, groups of families, kids selling lemonade on stoops, hop scotch drawn with chalk on the pathways, diners, cafes, restaurants and bars. it's seriously amazing to come back here after a big day in manhattan, it feels like home. life is good... and once i am finally back in a routine/rhythm i’ll be back to my regular blog schedule again. we've got a lot of fun stuff happening over summer! i can't wait to share it all!!
